West Frisian
From UniLang Wiki
West Frisian is first language of 55% of the population in the Dutch province Fryslân (Friesland), which has 640,000 inhabitants. Three or four insular dialects with a strongly deviating vowel system are spoken by perhaps 1000 people altogether.
West Frisian has its own literature since 1660 [[1]] and a rich pop culture today. It has daily radio and TV transmissions [[2]], but no newspapers. It is teached in schools, more depending on the teacher’s interest than on the rigid Dutch school system.
Frisian can be spoken by 74% of the population of the province and it is understood by 94%. Much effort is put into courses for non-natives [[3]],

Frisian is teached at many Dutch universities with a mainly lexicograpic center at the Fryske Akademy [[5]].
