Ukrainian verbs of motion

One of the peculiarities of Ukrainian (as well as other Slavic languages) is its many verbs of motion. In Ukrainian motion verbs are separated into unidirectional (that is, travelling in one direction) or multidirectional (travelling in many directions or none in particular):
Unidirectional Multidirectional
іти to go (on foot) ходити
їхати to go (by transport) їздити
везти to drive, transport (by car, etc) возити
вести to bring, lead (on foot) водити
летіти to fly літати
нести to carry носити
пливти to swim плавати
Verbs of motion can take various direction prefixes, each with their own basic meaning. The most common of these are:
в- motion into
ви- out of
від- away from
до- up to or reaching a point
з- down from, off of
під- approaching something
при- arriving at
про- through
