- Turkish language has got a long history dating back thousands of years. Turkish is one of the richest and oldest language in the world. The first Turkish texts were written in D.C. VI-VIII centuries. The first community which spoke Turkish was the Hun Empire (B.C. III century-D.C. I century).
- Turks used several different alphabets before switching to the Latin alphabet.These were;
- Göktürk Alphabet - Göktürk Alfabesi
- This alphabet has 38 characters. Characters are written from right to left and from top to bottom. There are 4 vowels and 3 compound characters and 3 consonants in this alphabet.
- Uygur Alphabet - Uygur Alfabesi
- This alphabet's spelling is the same as Göktürk alphabet. It depends on figure writing. There are 14 figures in this alphabet.
- Arabic Alphabet - Arap Alfabesi
- Because of the Islamic influence, Turks began to use the Arabic Alphabet. They also added characters from the Persian Alphabet to Arabic Alphabet. These characters are 'p,ç,j,g'. This alphabet has 32 characters, and the characters are written from right to left.
- Latin Alphabet - Latin Alfabesi
- This is the current alphabet used by the Turkish language. It consists of 29 characters, and letters are written from left to right. It has 8 vowels and 21 consonants.
