Tongan: Introduction

In Tongan all nouns are classified in two groups when they must be qualified by a possessive adjective or pronoun. Thus we have 'e-class and ho-class nouns. For every kind of possessive there are two forms, one used with 'e-class nouns and one with ho-class. This distinction exists in all Polynesian languages
