Spanish: Adverbs

From UniLang Wiki

Adverbs can be formed out of adjectives using the following rules, here we consider the masculine singular adjective as baseform adjective from which we form the adverb.

Forming the adverb

  • If the baseform adjective ends in -O, this is changed to -AMENTE
  • If the baseform adjective ends in -E, this is changed to -EMENTE
  • If the baseform adjective ends in -OR, this is changed to -ORAMENTE
  • If the baseform adjective ends in -Ã?N, this is changed to -Ã?NAMENTE
  • If the baseform adjective ends in -ÓN, this is changed to -ÓNAMENTE
  • If the baseform adjective ends in -Ã?N, this is changed to -Ã?NAMENTE
  • If the baseform adjective ends in a consonant, then -MENTE is added.

The adverb usually appears directly after the [[Verb|verb], but word-order is quite flexible so it can be placed in other positions as well:

Example:

  • The boy quickly runs to his friend - El chico corre rapidamente a su amigo
