Sater Frisian

From UniLang Wiki

About 100 km to the east Sater Frisian is spoken by 2200 people in the north of Oldenburg in Germany. It is the only remnant of the once extensive East Frisian language area between the rivers Ems and Elbe. Of all dialects it is found to preserve the most of Old Frisian language heritage: [[1]].

From West Frisian it is so different that there is only sparsely mutual understanding possible without study. Literature has begun since about 1930 and education since about 1980.

Study and documentation is mainly carried out by Fort [[2]] and Kramer [[3]].

On-line are a vocabulary [[4]],
a grammar [[5]]
and the beginnings of a course [[6]].
