Possessive suffixes

1.sg. (minun) autoni - my car
2.sg. (sinun) autosi - your car
3.sg. (hänen) autonsa - his/her car
1.pl. (meidän) automme - our car
2.pl. (teidän) autonne - your car
3.pl. (heidän) autonsa - their car

Note that the personal pronouns (in brackets) can also be left out, however, in spoken language they are often used, and the suffixes are dropped.

Where does the possessive suffix go, when combined with other suffixes?

With the grammatical cases the possessive suffix goes second:

Ystävälleni (allative)
Ystävältäni (ablative)
Ystäväkseni (translative)
Ystävänäni (essive)

With other kinds of suffixes the possessive suffix goes first:

Ystäväni
Ystävänihän
Ystävänikin
