Portuguese articles

This page will give an overview of the articles in Portuguese. While in English we have only "the" and "a", the Portuguese language has more articles because an article has to agree with the noun in gender and in number.
Definite Articles (the):
- singular, masculine: o
- singular, feminine: a
- plural, masculine: os
- plural, feminine: as
Indefinite Articles (a/an):
- singular, masculine: um
- singular, feminine: uma
- plural, masculine: uns
- plural, feminine: umas
Note that unlike in English, portuguese has a plural indefinite article.
