Nouns are only declined in case. Number and gender are given in articles. A noun phrase must contain an article or a pronoun.

Cases

There are five cases in 7th-millennium Okyyryn:

  • Absolutive is for the subject of intransitive verbs or the object of transitive verbs.
  • Ergative is for the subject of transitive verbs.
  • Dative is for beneficiaries and recipients.
  • Locative is for locations.
  • Directive is for directions.

Op'on is not an agglutinating language. Inflected nouns have a different pronunciation, but the way it is pronounced cannot be easily predicted. As a rule of thumb, diphthongize the stressed vowel in ergative, dative and locative case. Add a ß at the end in ergative case. Further modifications:

  • Absolutive: nothing
  • Ergative and dative: P' or I
  • Locative: CH or I
  • Directive: P' or OO
