7th-millennium Okyyryn is still an agglutinating language, at least when it comes to noun declensions. Nouns receive number prefixes and case suffixes. Unlike Proto-Okyyryn, however, animacy is no longer distinguished in nouns.


Number Prefixes

There are two different number prefixes, depending on whether a noun starts in a vowel or in a consonant.

Case Suffixes

There are six cases in 8th-millennium Okyyryn:

  • Absolutive is for the subject of intransitive verbs or the object of transitive verbs.
  • Ergative is for the subject of transitive verbs.
  • Dative is for beneficiaries and recipients.
  • Oblique is for indirect objects
  • Genitive is for possessors.
  • Vocative is for addressing someone.

There are two different case endings, depending on whether a noun ends in a vowel or in a consonant. Absolutive case is unmarked.
