Okyyryn only has five ways to convert different parts of speech into another:

  • To turn a verb into a noun describing the action, add the prefix yyxy (ಈಶಇ) or, if the verb starts with a vowel, yyx (ಈಶ).
  • To turn a verb into a noun describing the actor, add the prefix ksoo (ಖಸಓ).
  • To turn a verb into an adjective (undeclined) or an adverb, add the prefix oot (ಓತ). That used to be participal mood for verbs.
  • To turn an adjective into a noun describing the state, simply decline it like a noun.
  • To turn an adjective into a noun describing an abstract notion, add the prefix t (ತ) and decline it like a noun.
