Nhängqäkupoqh Verbs
From UniLang Wiki
Verbs have agreement affixes for subject and object (if applicable) as well as tenses and moods.
The order of the affixes is:
subject politeness - negation - subject class - subject number - VERB ROOT - tense - mood - (object class - object number - object politeness)
The negation affix is phä.
Politeness (from the speaker's point of view) has 4 degrees:
- equal: no affix
- respectful (to superiors): nhü for the subject, rho for the object
- disrespecting (to inferiors): lu for the subject, khö for the object
- very honorific (to gods): qangüm
With qangüm, you don't mention noun class and number, not even the noun itself.
The 8 noun classes are the same as for adjectives:
- person: thaz
- animal: vüt
- food: qhüth
- nature: vä
- object: no
- tool: ngoza
- feeling: thung
- idea: phäphnö
- property: rhogh
Those noun classes are only used in the 3rd person. For the first and second person, you use personal affixes:
- 1st person inclusive (me, you and possibly others): nat
- 1st person exclusive (me/we, without you): phu
- 2nd person (you): qhün
The 5 number prefixes are the same as for nouns and adjectives:
- singular: nho
- dual: rhot
- several: muqh
- all: ra
- more: pä
Nhängqäkupoqh distinguishes 3 tenses:
- remote past ("long ago"): l
- past: gh
- non-past (present/future): ph
And 3 moods, which form a syllable with the tense consonants:
- fact: u
- suspition: ü
- wish: ö
Conjugated verbs can be pretty long:
Luphäthazmuqhvökmoghäqhünnhorho.
= I think those people haven't seen Your Highness.
And don't miss the other Conlangs. :-)
