La comida (food)

Meals differ in Spanish speaking countries tend to differ from the standard of most English speaking countries. Breakfast is usually fairly light, and lunch is usually a little later in the day, and is much heavier, as it is the main meal of the day. Dinner is served as a light meal quite late at night (8-9 PM) with a snack between lunch and dinner.

el desayuno - breakfast
el almuerzo - lunch
la cena - dinner

desayunar - to have breakfast
almorzar - to have lunch
cenar - to have dinner

el lonche and la comida also mean lunch in some regions.

el plato - plate
el plato hondo - bowl
el vaso - glass
la silla - chair
el tenedor - fork
el cuchillo - knife
la cuchara - spoon

las bebidas - drinks

el agua - water
el refresco - soda
el jugo - juice
el jugo de naranja - orange juice
la leche - milk
