Differences between Låtuk and Nhängqäkupoqh pronunciation:

  • With the exception of rh, all uvular consonants (q, qh, nh) became velar (k, kh, ng).
  • Aspiration was lost, so only 3 of the 8 stops (p, t, k) remained.
  • The fricative rh became [ɦ], the vowel a became [ɑ].
  • The consonants ð, pf, ts were imported from Fatþupũ.
  • Front vowels became unrounded in the last syllable of a word.
  • Unstressed vowels were reduced to [ə], except for a.

And how is Låtuk pronounced now?

The language has 13 consonants and 7 vowels:
' [ə], like the O in "action"
Å [ɑ], like the A in "father"
�? [ð], like the TH in "this"
E [e], like the French É in "café" or German EE in "See" (similar to English A in "late")
È [ɛ], like the E in "get"
GH [ɣ], softer than the Spanish J in "mujer" or the German/Scottish CH in "Loch"
H [ɦ], softer than the H in "hide"
I [i], like the EE in "feet"
K [k], like the K in "skit"
L [l], like the L in "love"
M [m], like the M in "man"
N [n], like the N in "no"
NG [ŋ], like the NG in "sing"
O [o], like the French EAU in "beau" or German OH in "ohne" (similar to English O in "stone")
P [p], like the P in "spit"
R [r], trilled like the Russian or Italian R
T [t], like the T in "stone"
U [u], like the OO in "boot"
V [v], like the V in "vain"
Z [z], like the Z in "zoo"

Note that words of Gukhükheth origin should be pronounced as in Gukhükheth, though only younger people are able to pronounce the foreign sounds.

Word stress is not strong, so it doesn't matter how you stress words.

A word cannot start with a vowel.
