Consonants:

Consonants are divided into two main groups, those with the inherent vowel ɑɑ:

ក ខ
ច ឆ
ដ ឋ ណ
ត ថ
ប ផ
ស ហ ឡ អ

and those with inherent vowel ɔɔ:

គ ឃ ង
ជ ឈ ញ
ឌ ឍ
ព ភ ម
យ រ ល វ

This distinction is important because each vowel sign has two possible pronunciations depending on what group of consonant it's attached to.

To illustate this we will use the consonant ក from the first group and គ from the second.

កិ ke គិ ki
កី kəy គី kii
កឹ kə គឹ kɨ
កឺ kəɨ គឺ kɨɨ

កុ ko គុ ku
កូ kou គូ kuu
