Japanese grammar: 終助詞

終助詞 [shuujoshi] (final particles) are particles that are placed at the end of a sentence to modify the meaning of the sentence. Examples are:
- ã?‹ (ka) To transform a statement into a question.
- よ (yo) Only used in spoken language, it emphasizes and shows that the speaker is very confident of what he is saying.
- ã? (ne) Only used in spoken language, it can be used to ask agreement of the other person or to show familiarity/intimacy.
