Japanese grammar: 一段動詞

一段動詞 [ichidandoushi], meaning "Step 1 verbs", are verbs belonging to a group whose 終止形 (shuushikei) form (the base form you also find in the dictionary) ends in -�?�る (-eru) or -�?�る (-iru).
- -�?�る (-eru):
- �?る (neru) to sleep
- 教�?�る (oshieru) to teach
- 食�?�る (taberu) to eat
- 決�?る (kimeru) to decide
- -�?�る (-iru):
- 見る (miru) to see, to watch
- 出�?�る (dekiru) to be able to
The other big group of verbs is called 五段動詞 (godandoushi), "Step 5 verbs".
