Personal pronouns
- Hawaiian distingishes between singular, dual, and plural (3+) pronouns.
- au/wau - I.
- 'oe - you.
- ia - he, she, it. This pronoun is usually preceded by the subject particle 'o, and is written and pronounced 'o ia.
- wai - who (interrogative pronoun).
- ha'i - someone else, a different person, no one we are talking about or would expect.
- kāua - we (dual, inclusive).
- kākou - we (plural, inclusive).
- māua - we (dual, exclusive).
- mākou - we (plural, exclusive).
- 'olua - you (dual).
- 'oukou - you (plural).
- lāua - they (dual).
- lākou - they (plural).
