Significant to the strongly conjugated feminine nous is, that they have no ending the the three first cases in singular. They have the ending -ar in singular genitive and -ir, -ar, -ur in plural nominative and accusative.
The o in stong is an u-umlaut from a which still exists in singular genitive. In plural nominative and accusative the a has been i-umlauted to e.
The ó in bók is i-umlauted to ø in plural nominative and accusative.
Feminine nouns with i-umlaut in plural have there the -ur ending.

dorg = fishing-line (however, dorgar in singular genitive)

Without ending in plural:
gás = goose (plural: gæs)
lús = louse (plural: lýs)
mús = mouse (plural: mýs)
And both with u-umlaut, i-umlaut and no ending in plural:
tonn = tooth (plural: tenn)
