Singular Personal Pronouns

When to use 'hun' or 'hen'


Possessive pronouns

Plural Possessive Pronouns

Ons (1st person plural) is used whith neuter nouns, e.g 'Ons huis' [Our house] - 'Huis' is neuter

Onze (1st person plural) is used with masculine and feminine nouns, e.g 'Onze man' [Our man] or 'Onze dochter' [Our daughter]


Reflexive pronouns

Note that you can use either u or zich for the 2nd person singular (formal). U would be more formal, but less common to use than zich.


--Declension of reflexive verbs--

Zich wassen [To wash oneself]

  • Ik was me
  • Jij wast je
  • Hij/zij/het wast zich
  • Wij wassen ons
  • Jullie wassen jullie
  • Zij wassen zich

So as you can see, the reflexive prounouns always follow directly after the verb.
