Language

The Danish language is spoken by ~6,000,000 million people, and it's the official language in three countries. It's the official language in Denmark, Faroe Islands and Greenland. The language is also spoken in some minorities in southern Germany, northern Sweden and some parts in Iceland.

There's multiple Danish dialects, but they're usually splitted up in three major groups; Eastern Danish, Island Danish and Jutlandic. The official and standard Danish, is simply known as "Standard Danish," or "rigsdansk" in Danish.

Danish is a part of the North Germanic language group, where you also find other Scandinavian languages, like Icelandic, Faroese, Norwegian and Swedish.

The Danish language is regulated by Dansk Sprognævn (Eng. Danish Language Committee)

Denmark have a long list of well-known Danes, from fairy tellers to physicists.
This is a list of both historical Danes, and Danes from the modern history.

  • Arne Jakobsen
His design is known all over the world. The design is well-respected and considered as timeless. He is one of the biggest danish designers.
  • Lars Von Trier
A famous director, and have directed hollywood-movies, as well as danish movies. His most notable movies are probably "Dogville" and "The Idiots."
  • H. C. Andersen
One of the most known fairy tellers the world have ever seen. His fairy tales has been translated into hundred of languages, and is still read today, even through he died over one hunred year ago.
  • Niels Bohr
Famous Physicist, famous for contributing material for understanding the atomic structure and quantum techniques. He also received the Nobel Prize in Physics, in 1922.

Sport

Denmark have no official sport, but the most popular sport is football (Also known as soccer) Lately, handball is begun to be popular, both for men and women. Other popular sports including; sailing, badminton, cycling and boxing. Help me completing this section!

Food

Danes are usually eating a lot of fish and meat. Denmark is surrounded by water, so it's naturally that the Danes are eating much fish. Potatoes are heavily eating, both for fish and for meat. Help me completing this section!
