Danish introduction
From UniLang Wiki
Introduction to the Danish language in English.
Danish belongs to the Germanic language family, where it’s a part of the North Germanic group together with Icelandic, Faroese, Norwegian and Swedish; the two last languages are in a wide perspective immediately understandable for Danish people. Especially Norwegian, which actually is based on the written Danish of a few hundred years ago. As a written language, Danish is characteristic of a very, very firm standard, as opposed to the spoken language which shows some very considerable pronunciation differences.
