Chinese Hanzi

From UniLang Wiki

Chinese characters (漢字 = Hanzi in Mandarin Chinese) are may be entirely pictorial or partly phonectic. The phonetic components work as a kind of rhyming rebus with the pictorial radicals redirecting the meaning of the character. Many words rhyme to words from a different chinese language or which have changed pronunciation over time. Thus Chinese charaters may be compared to English spelling in their retention of historical forms.

A great place to explore Chinese characters (traditional ones) is zhongwen, which means Chinese language.
