Grammar

Canis grammar has to be simple, because that's the target of its creator.

In Canis a sentence will always be started with the subject.

Ios essero allegro! - I'm happy!

Ios = subject
essero = modal auxiliary
allegro = adjective

The Modal auxiliary must be written in the number as the personal pronoun. The sentence is written in simple present (presente).

Esser is the stem, the right ending for this verb is '-o'; this makes the verb 'essero'.

esser is a 'r' verb, it's the second group of Canis verbs. In Canis we know three groups. Verbs which ends in an 'i', a 'r' and a 'l'. The endings of the presente is equal for each verb in Canis, only the endings of 'passato' and 'futuro' are different. Look for more information about verbs at this page.

The same rule for the finite verbs.

1st person singularIos travalo - I work
2nd person singularTos travala - you work
3rd person singularEos travalu - he works
3rd person singularEas travalu - she works
3rd person singularEus travalu - it works
1st person pluralNos travalos - we work
2nd person pluralVos travalas - you work
3rd person pluralPos travalus - they work

Ios essero allegro, eos esseru annaru. - I'm happy, he's angry.

'Ios' is the subject, 'allegro' is the finite verb, 'eos' is the indirect object, but the second finite verb is just like the first one, conjugated to the number of the object or indirect object where it to belongs.

Eos esseru allegro, Ios essero annaru - He's happy, I'm angry.

The adjectives always remains untouched. They won't change, whatever the time or number is where they belong to.

A noun in Canis will always have an article in front of it. Canis has just two articles, lo and ono.

lo is the definite article:

Lo libro = The book
Lo libri = The books

The article lo fits for singular and plural nouns. The article ono fits for singular nouns only.

The nouns in Canis which end in a '-o' or an '-a' always have an '-i' in the plural form.

Lo canallo = The canal
Lo canalli = The canals

The nouns in Canis which end in a '-e' will get an extra '-s' to make it plural.

Lo pane = The bread
Lo panes = The breads

The nouns in Canis which end in a '-s' won't get an extra character, these nouns are written in Plurale Tantum. Which mean they're singular and plural at the same time.

Vos, is a personal pronoun and means 'you' (plural) but it's alo the formal form.

When a word ends in a vowel and the nest word starts in the same vowel, it's possible one use the liaison technique like in French. For example:

Lumo delle esto = light from the east
Lumo dell'esto = light from the east

Thus one can pronounce then those two words like as if they were one.
