Articles indicate the case and definiteness of a noun.
A noun without a number or demonstrative needs an article (as in Romance languages).

4 cases are distinguished (more regularly than in German):

  • nominative = subject
  • accusative = direct object
  • dative = indirect object
  • genitive = possessor

Indefinite Articles

  • nom: un
  • acc: unan
  • dat: untu
  • gen: unes

Definite Articles

  • nom: den
  • acc: denan
  • dat: dentu
  • gen: denes
