I.

бу (bu) - this
шу (şu) - that
киши, одам (kşi, âdam) - person, man

йўқ (yoq) - no
қиламан (qılaman) - I do/will do
қиласан (qılasan) - You do/will do
қилади (qıladı) - he does/will do

иш (iş) - work, job, thing
ишни (işnı) - work, thing (accusative case)

II.

1. The Uzbek sound қ is pronounced deep in the throat, like arabic qaaf (ق).
2. The negative particle ...эмас comes after the word it negates: Бу киши колхозчи эмас. This man is not a kolkhoz worker.
3. The first и in the word киши is pronounced so quickly that it's almost inaudible.
4. The ending -ни, added to the end of a word, marks the direct object of verbs. For example: "What do you know"? -"I know this thing" - Шу ишни биламан.

III.

Бу киши - ким? (bu kşi kim?) - Who is this person?
Бу киши - колхозчи. (bu kşi kalxosçi) - This person is a kolkhoz worker.
Бу киши - ишчими? (bu kşi işçimı) - Is this person a worker?
Йўқ, бу киши ишчи эмас. (yoq, bu kşi işçi emas) - No, this person isn't a worker.
У - хизматчими? (u xızmatçimı) - Is he a worker?
У - хизматчи эмас. (u xızmatçi emas) - He isn't a worker.

Шу ишни сиз қиласизми? (şu işnı sız qılasızmı) - Will you do this work/thing?
Йўқ. Бу ишни Қодир қилади. (yoq. bu işnı qâdır qıladı) - No. Qodir will do it.
Бу ишни Қосим қилади. (bu işnı qâsım qıladı) - Qosim will do this job.
Шу ишни Қумри қиладими? (şu işnı qumrı qıladımı) - Will Qumri do that job?
Ҳа, бу ишни Қумри қилади. (ha, bu işnı Qumri qıladı) - Yes, Qumri will do it.
