One of the forms which a verb takes by inflection or by adding auxiliary words, so as to indicate the time of the action or event signified; the modification which verbs undergo for the indication of time.

Some tenses:

  • Present:the tense or form of a verb which expresses action or being in the present time.
  • Future: the tense or modification of a verb which expresses a future act or event.
  • Perfect: a tense which expresses an act or state completed.
  • Imperfect: a tense expressing past time and incomplete action.
