IPA characters with the same character and pronunciation as in the English alphabet:

p, b, m, f, v, t, d, l, w, r

Same English letter, sometimes different pronunciation as in IPA:

k, g, s, z, n, h, j

IPA characters which are not in the English alphabet:

ŋ, ð, ʃ, θ, ʒ, ʍ

Plosives: p (pin), b (bin), t (tin), k (kin), g (gun)

Nasals: m (sum), n (sun), ŋ (sung)

Fricatives: f (fun), v (very), θ (think), ð (this), s (sun). z (zero), ʃ (ship), ʒ (measure), h (hat)

Affricates: ʤ (John)ˌ ʧ (chain)

Approximants: l (left), r (right), w (wet), ʍ (what) (only in some dialects), j (yes)
