  • Morje! = Good morning.
  • Tach! = Hi!
  • Nâm(e)nt! = Good evening.
  • Un? = Hi, how are you? (showing friendly/polite concern about the listener's problems)
  • Mersi! = Thank you.
  • Alê hob! = Let's go! (also used as a carnival battle cry)
  • Avai ava! = Come on, you can't do that! / Come on, that's not true!
  • Avai här ava uf! = Stop it! / That's unbelievable!
  • Ô lëg! = Gosh!
  • Gê ford! = No way!
  • Gê mir ford mid dëm XY! = Don't talk about XY!
  • Gug(e) må då! = Look at that!
  • Mus das sin? = Do I have to do that?
  • Das klâbste ava! = Definitely!
  • Aj jå! = Of course!
  • Aj gud, dan... = Okay, then...
  • Ô/Å nä! = Oh no!
  • Vas gëbd's? = What's up?
  • Es is al. = There's none left.
  • Dû vârch's, ich han's gesîn! = It was you, I've seen it!
  • Uf dî bäm, dî Pëlza kome! = Beware, people from Rhineland-Palatinate are coming! ;-)
  • Haupdsach gud gës (gechafd han mir chnël)! = The main thing is a decent meal (we'll have worked quickly)!
  • De Hans is grêsa vî's Marî. = John is taller than Mary.
  • Ich väs(es) nid. = I don't know.
  • Ich han kald. = I'm cold.
