POPE (Mòmì) PU
From UniLang Wiki
The verb "to be" is PU (mù) in POPE. The verb is irregular, but not as illogical as its equivalent in English and most other Indo-European languages.
The irregularity comes from the fact that both the absolutive (object) and the ergative (subject) of "to be" refer to the same object, hence they share the same number and politeness degree.
This is the complete conjugation, including the pronunciation of the three moods (the stressed vowel is underlined):
| equal | humble | respectful | |
|---|---|---|---|
| singular | PU | PULI | UUTUUPU |
| hearsay | vü | vüly | üüzüüvü |
| suspition | mù | mùly | ùnùmù |
| fact | bu | buly | uuduubu |
| dual | PUKUJ | PUKUJULI | UUTUUJALUPU |
| hearsay | vürhür | vürhürüly | üüzüürhälüvü |

| hearsay | vüly | vülyly | üüzüüzivü |
| suspition | mùly | mùlyly | ùnùnìmù |

Note that the humble singular is identical to the equal plural.
