Op'on Alphabet
From UniLang Wiki
Belonging to the Okyyryn (ಃಒಕಈರಇ Okyyryn / ಕಈಉಃರಇ Kiijnri) country, Op'on (ಃಒಫಒ Öbön / ಇಫ Up') has been using the Kooton (ಃಕಓತಒ Kooton / ಕಓರ Kooř) alphabet since 3323.
Since the pronunciation of modern Op'on is very different from that of Okyyryn, the alphabet is not well suited. A more or less phonemic transcription is used. This is especially difficult for the vowels.
The Kooton alphabet has 18 letters and a nasality sign. Here's a list of the letters together with their transcribed pronunciation and the original 4th-millennium Okyyryn pronunciation in IPA:
- ಇ I or U [i]
- ಈ II [y?]
- ಉ J [u]
- ಊ not used [ɯ?]
- ಒ E, EE or UU [o]
- ಓ OO [ɤ?]
- ಕ K or G [q]
- ಖ K' [k’]
- not used [t] [ʒ]
- ತ not used [t]
- ಥ T' [t’]
- ಫ P' [p’]
- ಬ ß or B [b]
- ರ R or Ř [ɹ]
- ಲ L [ʟ]
- ಶ not used [ʃx]
- ಷ CH [ç]
- ಸ F or LS [s]
The nasality sign ಃ is used to write the nasal consonants N and Ň.
