8th-millennium Okyyryn has lost the mood distinctions that existed in earlier variants.

Tense

There are four tenses in Okyyryn:

  • Perfect for states in the past (what was happening)
  • Aorist for punctual events in the past (what happened)
  • Present
  • Future

Those tenses are expressed through different verb stems, which can be quite irregular. The perfect stem has at least one Y or YY vowel, the aorist stem has a different nasality, and the future stem starts with K or an affricative involving S.

Person, Number

Verbs now have prefixes that indicate person and number of the subject. Those can be dropped in third person if the subject is a noun. The prefixes depend on whether a verb starts with a vowel or a consonant.
