ʃ stands for a voiceless postalveolar fricative in IPA.

It is pronounced like the SH in "shy".

The same sound is written Ш in the Cyrillic alphabet, SJ in Dutch, SH in English, SJ, SKJ and STJ in Faroese, CH in French and Portuguese, SCH in German, SC(I) in Italian, Ş in Romanian and Turkish, Š in many Slavic languages, Ŝ in Esperanto, ﺵ in Arabic, SZ in Polish, and S in Hungarian.
