Agreement

Adjectives agree with their nouns in gender and number.

Gender

Every adjective starts with a consonant. The feminine is formed by making that consonant a fricative (F, S, SH or CH), the masculine form by making it a stop (B, D, JH or G), the neuter form by making it a nasal consonant (M, N, NH or NG). The basic form is used with inanimate nouns.

(f) tall woman = sonchi funhchish
(m) tall man = donchi bunhchish
(n) tall person = nonchi munhchish
(i) tall house = ifngeb munhchish

Number

Plural is formed in the same way as with nouns:
If the noun ends in an oral vowel, you simply add an S.
If the noun ends in a nasal vowel, the consonant indicating the nasality is doubled (which makes the vowel oral), and an S is added.
If the noun ends in a consonant, you simply add an A.

thin woman = sonchi chuljha; thin women = sonchis chuljhas
good woman = sonchi chuneng; good women = sonchis chunenngs
tall woman = sonchi funhchish; tall women = sonchis funhchisha

Comparison

The comparison is formed by using the adverbs jhimen (more) or nhiden (less).
The superlative is formed by using the adverbs guyumen (most) or echen (least).

tall woman = sonchi funhchish
taller woman = sonchi funhchish jhimen
tallest woman = sonchi funhchish guyumen

To transform an adjective into an adverb, add the suffix -MEN if the adjective ends in a vowel, or -EN if it ends in a consonant.
