Relational prepositions
The following prepositions represent relations. They also rarely have idiomatic use so these are quite easy to learn.
Янон
This preposition is the replacement of the abessive case. It is used when representing lack of something. In English that would be "without". Some rules should be noticed:
- The preposition is never used with a pronoun that can bear the abessive case.
- The preposition requires the prepositional case (as it ends to -н).
Let's see some examples:
- Гон псянйс янон онөман. 'He lived without a name'
- Янон һрияндріан о василїос наелвасйлоне. 'Without the power a king is not a king'
Пери
This preposition is the replacement of the comitative case. It is used when representing having something (with). In English that would be "with". Some rules should be noticed:
- It's used only with humans and some other living objects (usually for only pets).
- It's very rarely used with pronouns as they can bear the comitative case. If you still decide to use the preposition so the pronoun has to be in either accusative or objective case depending on the use.
- With nouns it requires either nominative or prepositional case depending on the context. If an article is used so the article has either nominative or accusative case - depending on the partition.
And now, let's see some examples!
- Се ідөса пери пєрран сөн. 'You walk with your dog'
- Сан һймнона пери мєа (мєра when using the comitative case). 'She sings with me'
- Гон псяне пери терєа кятес. 'He lives with the cats'
