Asinggu verbs

Verbs are not conjugated in person and number, because the personal pronouns can do that.

They do indicate something, though. ;-)

Mood (expressed with a particle preceding the verb)

  • known from experience: usi
  • hearsay or known from literature: bera
  • opinion: mine
  • (scientifically) discovered: gere

Tense (expressed with verb endings)
indicate when something happens.

  • remote past ("long ago"): -(u)ntu
  • past ("earlier"): -(i)ta
  • present ("now"): no ending
  • future ("later"): -(i)re

The vowel is dropped if the verb ends in a vowel.

Continuity (expressed with an auxiliary) indicates that something has been going on before and/or will continue later.

  • remote past: "used to do"
  • past: "have been doing"
  • present: "do"
  • future: "will still do"

Continuity is formed by conjugating bi followed by the present participle of the main verb.

Present Participle: just add -(i)ng at the end.
Past Participle: just add -(a)do at the end.
